Musicales De Tejas Inc., parent organization of The World Famous Mariachi Infantil Guadalupano & Mariachi Infantil De San Antonio, and in partnership with St Leonards Catholic Church, located at 8510 S. Zarzamora San Antonio, TX 78224,announces Free, beginners Mariachi, advance Mariachi & Vocal classes for children of all ages. Classes are on Wednesdays from 6-8pm and Saturdays 11am to 1pm at St Leonards Church Hall. Classes are under the direction of Mr. Alejandro Ramirez, founder and musical director for the past 33 years.
Children with 2 or more years experience in mariachi are encourage applying for Mariach Juvenil De San Antonio, an all male group or Rositas De San Antonio, an all female group. These groups will be composed of select advance experience mariachi students from around the city. Performances are at Market Square, Arneson River Theater, Foklife Festival, Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza and many other events. All instruments and trajes will be furnished at no cost.
Mariachi Infantil De San Antonio has entertained national and international dignitaries such as Prince Charles of England, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sophia of Spain, President Jimmy Carter at the Alamo, and Pope John Paul II at our Lady of Guadalupe Church in San Antonio, TX. The children have appeared with Raul Velasco in the popular Mexican television show Siempre En Domingo and have performed at the Shrine of “Our Lady of Guadalupe” in Mexico City, and Plaza Garibaldi.
Experienced adult Mariachis and Musicians of all musical areas are encouraged volunteering in teaching the children. Volunteers in film, recording, acting, stage, fundraising, etc. are highly needed; we are a federally recognized 501c3 non-profit organization.
